They call me Miss Abs.
I earned that nickname. I was an obese teenager, then a yo-yo dieter for ten years until I started lifting weights. I was just trying not to be fat, but I ended up very lean and muscular. And I have a six-pack.
A few years into my bodybuilding journey, I tried yoga and loved it. It did wonders for my body, but also for my mind, and that’s why I borrow heavily from yoga in my work. I believe in holistic health for me and for the people I train.
Good nutrition, proper rest, and exercise are the fountain of youth. A few hours a week is a small price to pay for a youthful appearance, energy and stamina. I develop programs based on needs and goals, and the work is serious, but we also like to have fun at 3 Monkeys. I’m a highly creative and personable individual, and I use that to learn about and draw the best out of people.
At heart, I am a bodybuilder, but I keep up my flexibility, balance, and cardiovascular training as well – in other words, I practice what I preach, and my passion and fascination for fitness is contagious. In seven years as a full-time trainer, my greatest joy comes from seeing clients transform and amaze themselves, both inside and out. I expect clients to be ready to work, but I’m not an in-your-face trainer. I don’t believe in yelling at or berating clients – I believe in believing in them.
“Leadership is communicating to people their worth and potential so clearly that they come to see it in themselves.” Stephen Covey
